Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, rekindled the spirit of cultural celebration with the return of its much-cherished weekly series, ‘ICC Wednesday Fiesta’, on April 9, 2025. The inaugural edition of this rejuvenated cultural showcase took place at the ICC Ashoka Hall, featuring a vibrant blend of Indian classical, folk, and contemporary performances by various ICC-affiliated organisations and local arts centers. The grand revival of Wednesday Fiesta was inaugurated by Dr.

Vaibhav A Tandale, Counsellor (Head of Chancery and Consular), Embassy of India, who praised the ICC’s role in nurturing and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of India within the Indian diaspora in Qatar. The evening commenced with a warm welcome address by Abraham K Joseph, general secretary of ICC, who set the tone for a night brimming with cultural delight. This was followed by opening remarks from Shantanu Deshpande, vice president of ICC, who emphasised the importance of providing a regular platform for artistic expression and community engagement.



ICC President AP Manikantan expressed gratitude to the Indian community for their continued support and participation, stating that the Wednesday Fiesta is not just an event, but a celebration of unity in diversity. Adding a special note to the event, PN Baburajan, chairman of the ICC Advisory Council, delivered a felicitation address, applauding the performers and reinforcing the significance of such initiatives in fostering a strong cultural identity among the younger generations of the diaspora. The event featured mesmerizing performances that spanned a range of Indian art forms, reflecting the diversity and richness of India’s cultural heritage.

The enthusiastic response from the audience underscored the community’s eagerness to revive regular cultural engagements. Nandini Abbagouni, head of cultural activities at ICC, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the Indian Embassy, the ICC executive team, affiliated organizations, volunteers, and performers for making the evening a grand success. With this renewed energy, ICC Wednesday Fiesta promises to become a weekly fixture that celebrates the talents of Indian artists in Qatar while strengthening community bonds through the universal language of art and culture.
