Aldi encouraged shoppers on its socials to “run, don’t walk” for the release of its new designer inspired fragrances – but for where this one scent transports me to; I’ll just sit back, relax and enjoy my life of luxury. Aldi's Lacura Black Intense is designed to be a similar fragrance to Le Labo's Thé Noir 29 – just minus the £234 price tag. The £9.
99 dupe has received praise online for its scarily similar scent and packaging compared to the bougie brand loved by A-listers such as Jodie Comer. "I feel like everyone in the universe wears it now," the Killing Eve star told The New York Times in 2020. Well, not everyone can afford it in the universe that I’m in.

that is until Aldi answered our beauty prayers. Jodie Comer is a fan of Le Labo. (Image: PA) From the first spray of the Eau de Parfum, I felt the floral yet earthy blend would be the perfect scent to accompany spring walks around a stately manor house.
I’m thinking the likes of a chauffeur-driven county outing and afternoon tea on the terrace. Black Intense features a blend of spicy clove, refreshing bergamot, and a rich tobacco base, along with notes of vetiver and cedarwood. And the best bit? It’s long lasting and even left a fragrance trail around the house (shoutout to my dad for asking what the “nice smell” was).
Let’s face it, a lot of lower end fragrances don’t boast that longevity on the skin, and as a lover of noughties’ celebrity perfumes, I can surprisingly say Black Intense lasted longer than most of those. (Image: NQ) New York’s Le Labo is known for encapsulating the scents of nature, worn by its cult following of fashion-forward rich kids. Even Beyonce was depicted burning Le Labo candles in her 2016 visual album Lemonade. But here in Blighty, is Lacura the new Le Labo? Well, it’s definitely up there with my recent favourites from likes of The White Company and Ted Baker – so whereas it doesn’t quite fit into the high-end price range of Le Labo – it still boasts a moment of luxury.
Lacura Black Intense Eau de Parfum costs £9.99 for a 100ml bottle. Lacura Sandalwood Eau de Parfum and Addition Eau de Parfum are also available in Aldi stores nationwide, while stocks last.
