‘I slept with the crown in my bed’, says Rosanna Davison as she reveals bizarre ‘security’ measure for Miss World

ROSANNA Davison has said she “slept in bed with the Miss World crown beside her” after revealing the “strict” security measures for the glitzy tiara.The model became the first contestant from Ireland to win Miss World back in 2003 when she was just 19 years old. And while you would think the winner of the competition gets to bring the crown jewel home to enjoy, Rosanna revealed that’s actually not the case. The mum-of-three told The Irish Sun: “I think it was made by the Royal Family Jewellers. It’s semi-precious jewels and diamonds and stuff so it’s under strict security.



“I wasn’t allowed to really have it or to keep it myself. They had someone to look after it all the time.“I’d be given it, wear it for the occasion and give it back.

”However, there was one particular occasion where Rosanna had to keep it in her house overnight and she didn’t let it out of her sight. The 40-year-old said: “I remember just having it in my room, going, ‘Ah’, I think I probably slept with it in the bed beside me because I had to keep such a close eye on it.“It’s worth quite a bit.

It’s worth something like a quarter of a million. So they’re really strict about security.“They would always have someone to keep an eye on it.

It’s so striking of a design with the blue and turquoise.”Luckily, Rosanna did get to keep two special mementos; her sash and one of her dresses from the competition. She added: “It’s in a cupboard with my wedding dress.

I’ll keep it for Sophia to have a look at anyway. I should try it on, actually, and see if it fits.”The influencer and her hubby Wes Quirke have three kids together; Sophia, five and twins Hugo and Oscar, three.

When asked if she’d encourage her daughter to compete in the international beauty pageant when she grows up, she replied: “I’d encourage them to go for whatever they’re interested in, to be honest, in the way that I was. MUM LIFE“I was never discouraged or I was never sort of pointed in any particular direction. But I think the way technology is moving so fast, they’ll be in jobs that aren’t even invented yet.

“It’s very hard to kind of say, ‘Oh, you should do this, you should do that’, when jobs aren’t even created. “And I think everyone loves the idea of flexibility and being able to work from home or work from abroad.“So I wouldn’t necessarily say, ‘Oh, you have to have a nine to five office job’, because things are changing so much now.
