I removed moss from my driveway in 2 hours using a 30p ingredient — results were amazing

Moss grows on patios and driveways because they offer a combination of damp conditions, shade and poor drainage. While moss isn’t harmful in itself, it can make a property look unsightly and become a slip hazard. There are a variety of methods to get rid of moss, but they can be tricky, especially if the moss isn’t overgrown.

I recently tried out a variety of methods, but only one worked incredibly well to remove the growth, and it was white vinegar . The store cupboard ingredient, which can be purchased for as little as 30p also helped to remove weeds on my driveway too. White vinegar is an effective natural remedy for removing moss from various surfaces thanks to its acetic acid content.



This helps to break down the matter, making it easier to remove from any hard surface. To remove the moss, I started by sweeping up any debris on the driveway and making sure there were no nearby plants or any grass. I then diluted white vinegar in a bucket with some water in a 1:1 ratio, giving it a good mix.

This was then poured onto my driveway, and I gently scrubbed the moss to help the vinegar seep in. The vinegar solution was left for two hours to work before I came back to completely dead moss. It’s important to do this when the weather is dry, as the vinegar will become less effective if it rains.

I took a broom before gently sweeping the driveway, and all of the moss came away with it. Even the stubborn moss which was growing in between the paving slabs had completely disappeared. I was super impressed with this hack as it required minimal scrubbing and effort.

What’s more, a few weeds that were present between the driveway cracks were also super easy to pull up after the vinegar application. It’s important to test this solution on an inconspicuous area to ensure that the vinegar doesn’t damage your tiles..
