I make a $6 Starbucks drink and the dupe tastes better than the real thing

Warm weather is almost upon us and that means one thing - iced coffee season is coming. But there's no need to splash out on a Starbucks as you can easily make your own

Summer is just around the corner, and with the arrival of warmer weather and sunshine, it's almost time for iced coffee season. I'm a big fan of iced coffee, but what I'm not so keen on is the hefty price tag. My go-to is an iced oat milk latte with brown sugar, similar to the one offered by Starbucks, but the $6.

29 cost for a grande (medium) doesn't sit well with me. Fortunately, this delightful beverage is surprisingly simple to recreate at home, and in my view, it's even better than the original, and at a fraction of the cost. The drink is quick and easy to prepare, making it the ideal morning indulgence or afternoon pick-me-up.



Not only is it considerably cheaper, but it's also less sweet and saves you from the awkwardness of ordering a shaken brown sugar oat iced latte from the barista. To whip up this drink, you'll need ice, a cocktail shaker, coffee, brown sugar, and oat milk. This recipe is inspired by one found on Starbucks' website.

2 tsp light brown sugar 2 shots of espresso - I use around half a cup of stovetop brewed coffee 3⁄4 cup of oat milk 1 cup of ice Brew your coffee however you like. I use a single moka pot which gives me around half a cup of strong espresso. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, then add your oat milk on top.

You can add a dash of cinnamon at this point if you fancy it. In a separate mixing jug or cup, put the two teaspoons of brown sugar and then pour the brewed coffee over it, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Pour your coffee and sugar over the oat milk and ice, put the lid on firmly and shake it hard for around 2 minutes Add more ice to a tall glass and pour the coffee over it If you're feeling really fancy you can add some whipped cream or a tad more cinnamon before adding a straw and enjoying your delicious caffeinated treat.
