All you need to make this homemade streak-free window cleaner is to combine four cups of warm water, two cups of white vinegar and a quarter cup of washing-up liquid in a bowl, giving it a gentle stir to combine everything. The key and most important ingredient is to add a few drops of peppermint oil to the mix - which flies, spiders, ticks and even rats and mice are said to hate the smell of. Once you’ve mixed up this potion it’s time to give your windows a good clean using a microfibre cloth or sponge.

You could add the solution into a spray bottle and use a shower squeegee to clear the windows too if you don't fancy scrubbing with a cloth. Chantel says the mixture “cuts through tough grime and dirt,” whilst the aroma of the peppermint will help to drive pests away. Using a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and warm water on the inside of your windows since there's likely less dirt here will make them shine.
