Speaking on Optus Sport, Ian Wright admitted that the decision caused him to go mad, saying: “For the penalty decision to go against them like that, it was too much for me.“I had a proper meltdown. The cats didn’t even want to come near me.

“The more I watched it, the more I think. Look, he’s got his arm there, now he’s let go. He’s not touched him there.

That’s nothing to make him actually go down.“So I’m thinking, I just can’t see a penalty in that. It’s just, I’m done.

I was done.”‘I had a proper MELTDOWN’ 🤣Ian Wright reliving Everton’s penalty against Arsenal is box office stuff. pic.

twitter.com/u52C5azHRO— Optus Sport (@OptusSport) April 8, 2025Everton to build on momentumEverton have been a revelation under the management of David Moyes and look a completely different side to the one that played under Sean Dyche earlier in the campaign. After a loss against Liverpool in the week, games against second and third next up were worrying, but the Toffees were worthy of this point.

There was plenty of time after for Arsenal to try and turn things around, so this one decision cannot be blamed for their lack of execution. The hard games do not let up for the Blues though, as they now prepare to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday (12 April). Everton’s next three games.

Nottingham Forest (A)Manchester City (H)Chelsea (A)Everton have some tough games ahead. With that in mind, gaining a point at Goodison Park at the weekend certainly puts Everton back in a good position with the opportunity to start another unbeaten run. Sitting 15 points clear of the drop zone, Moyes’ side are just waiting for their survival to be mathematically confirmed, but there are plenty of squad members playing for a future on Merseyside and therefore, need to be at their best levels.
