SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has explained why Kaizer Chiefs loanee Donay Jansen hasn’t played much this season. The 21-year-old joined Matsatsantsa on loan from Amakhosi on the last day of the transfer window. He has only played one match for the Tshwane giants but Hunt has explained why Jansen has not featured regularly for his struggling side.
Gavin Hunt talks about Kaizer Chiefs star “Obviously, Donay came on the last day of the window. So, we need to find out where he plays because every team has a different way of playing. And I think he’s a very good footballer,” Hunt told the media.
“And I feel sorry for him because where we need him, I think it’s going to be tough for him to play. But yeah, he’s a good footballer. The problem is no reserve league, these types of things.
” Jansen only played two times last season at Kaizer Chiefs, but Hunt says the youngster will get his chance. “He needs games. You can’t just train, train, train every day.
So, I think we’re pretty out of Africa. “That doesn’t help me because Africa’s good to play one or two and give them a chance. So, he’s going to compete, and hopefully, he gets a better run down again,” Hunt added.
Matsatsantsa have struggled to compete over the past seasons after losing top players like Patrick Maswanaganyi and Thalente Mbatha. Hunt has often complained that big clubs like Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have usually taken players from him leaving the club to rebuild. Is Hunt holding back Donay?
