Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Bollywood star with a global fanbase, has candidly shared his thoughts on friendship in a recent interview. Despite his immense popularity, the 82-year-old actor revealed that he has very few close friends, stating, "No, I don't have many friends," when asked about his social circle. In an earlier interview with national media, journalist Veer Sanghvi inquired whether Bachchan had many friends.

His straightforward response was a simple "No." When pressed further about whether he could count his friends on one hand, Bachchan admitted, "Oh, that's tough; I don't have many friends." When asked if this lack of friendships stems from a distrust of people, Bachchan clarified, "That's not it.

The entire process of meeting, getting to know, and engaging with each individual—that doesn’t usually work well for me." He noted that some of his friends are from the film industry, while others are from outside of it. Bachchan also reminisced about his close friendship with the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, whom he first met at the age of four in Allahabad.

He recalled their encounter at a fancy dress party, where Rajiv, dressed as a freedom fighter, was just two years old at the time. "We were just two children among many others, and it didn't seem significant then that he was the grandson of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru," Bachchan reflected on their childhood friendship.
