'I called the cops on my own daughter to try and save her - but she died of a fentanyl overdose'

A grieving father whose daughter died from a fentanyl overdose urged Donald Trump to "stop drugs from flowing over the border." Phil Hamilton's daughter Tessla, 29, died of a fentanyl overdose two years ago. Phil, 54, a forklift operator from Carrollton, Kentucky, voted for Trump and urged the president-elect to get tough on border control and drug dealing .

Tessla, 29, struggled with addiction for years - a battle from which even rehab couldn't save her. Phil once made the harrowing decision to call the cops on Tessla in hopes of saving her, but it ended in tragedy. "There are just too many drugs coming over the border," he said. He argues tighter borders would minimize the influx: "If they had the border closed, all this stuff wouldn’t be coming in. I’m sure it’d be around anyway, but not as much.

" Phil said Trump's policies will "keep all those drugs from coming over so other parents don’t have to go through what I went through." Tessla left behind three young children, now cared for by her ex-husband. Remembering Tessla, Phil said: "She was a wonderful person.

She loved to sing. I played guitar myself, and she used to sing with me. Just a great person — until the drugs got hold of her.

" He said his year-long search for his missing daughter ended in heartbreak upon finding her addicted to heroin and meth addiction before her death. "I went and got her," he said. "I guess before she came out of the bedroom, she had swallowed multiple baggies of fentanyl and stuff.

"She had two warrants on her, so I took her to my house, and, of course, I hated to do it, but I had her arrested." Tessla died in jail and her father believes it could have been prevented with proper checks. "They should have found that when they ran her through that scanner," he said.

"The acid in her stomach ate the bags up, and that’s what killed her." Since her untimely passing, Phil and his wife struggle to the loss to Tessla’s children. "The hardest part was telling her kids, my grandchildren, that their mom passed away," he said.

After Tessla's passing, Phil warns parents of the negative influences that he feels contributed to his daughter's addiction. "She just got mixed up with the wrong crowd. "I don’t want this to happen to anyone else’s child. That’s all I can do now — hope and pray for a change.
