This summer is set to be pivotal for Manchester United’s immediate history, with Ineos having plenty of work to do on the squad.Ruben Amorim didn’t have it easy during his opening few months as the head coach at Old Trafford, with some of the worst form Manchester United have ever witnessed.Due to some of the torrid form on display, Amorim has labelled his United side the worst in history.
This was a bold statement at the time, but looking back to December and it is difficult to disagree, considering the club were getting thrashed weekly.Despite this, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been publically in full support of Amorim, however, the summer is when he must showcase this faith in the 40-year-old Portuguese head coach.United are planning to overhaul the squad with widescale changes, as several positions require attention in order to hand Amorim a squad capable of matching opponents in every aspect.

In the presser, Amorim was asked about the future, and he outlined his demands for the summer.“I am not saying we are going to win the title next year, I am not crazy. I just want to focus on our strengths and bring one or two players, big players.
” Amorim specifying ‘big players’ in his transfer demands could mean a variety of things as he suggested his definition may not match what fans expect.It would, however, make sense if Amorim meant two established names, in the ilk of a Victor Osimhen and possibly a Francisco Trincao, before then having a number of arrivals on the younger side, such as Ayden Heaven and Sekou Kone.READ MORE: Who are INEOS? This would mean that from now, United will need to have a team capable of winning a league title in the summer of 2027, two years away, which highlights the work Ineos have to do this summer.Despite this sounding ambitious, Amorim has been even more demanding as he told the press he cannot deal with setting goals for four years time, instead wanting to immediately improve next season.“I cannot manage, ‘In four years we will try something’.
We need to be so much better. This is a massive club.”Amorim is saying all the right things for United fans.
Now, he needs to back it up, but in order to do so, the club must have a quality summer..
