Hyderabad's infrastructure is set to undergo a major metamorphosis in terms of infrastructure with the state government's Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project. In addition to this, several works to ease traffic have been taken up in the previous 11 months which also includes works to address urban flooding, sprucing up traffic management and junction improvements. The government has recently accorded administrative sanction to 23 works under the H-CITI Project for an amount of Rs 5,942 crore, duly superseding the earlier sanction of Rs 4,305 crore.
This project is proposed to be taken up in a phased-manner based on the availability and sanction of funds. Under the phase-I, 38 works are proposed to be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 7,032 crore. These include 19 flyover projects and six road widening projects.
Apart from these projects, the state government is planning to build 34 storm water drain projects in different parts of the city with a total length of around 43.70 km with `528.51 crore to mitigate the flooding in the GHMC area.
To provide better commuting, the supply, installation, operations and maintenance of city-wide unified traffic signal control system has been spruced up. As part of this task, eight Adaptive Traffic Signal Control (ATSC) signals have been installed, tested and commissioned. The government is also commissioning 43 electric vehicle charging stations and another 40 charging stations are in the process of commissioning.
