Police deployment at Ashok Nagar. HYDERABAD: In a recent development, police foiled a press meet proposed by the Group I aspirants at Ashok Nagar on Sunday. As scores of aspirants, including those qualified for the Mains entrance scheduled on Monday, gathered near La Excellence IAS Academy , Ashok Nagar, to voice their grievances, large contingents of police and armed personnel swooped in on the aspirants.

Police lathi-charged the aspirants before bundling them into vehicles and shifting them to different police stations. The aspirants were placed under detention. Meanwhile, the deployment of armed police personnel and officers from different wings of Hyderabad continued at Ashok Nagar, resembling a curfew-like situation.

“We wanted to voice our grievances in a peaceful manner, but were chased away and beaten up,” said an aspirant. They also alleged that aspirants in the Sports quota, whose names were not included in the first list of candidates who qualified for the Mains, appeared suddenly, and authorities started issuing Hall Tickets to them from Saturday midnight. Somishetty Dinesh from Warangal, who qualified for the Mains, said that they strongly believe the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is misled on the GO 29 issue .

“This is in no way going to benefit SCs, STs, or BCs as claimed by the govt. Further, there are cases pending in the Supreme Court. We urge the govt to conduct the Mains entrance after all cases in various courts are cleared,” he said.
