Shamed Huw Edwards wrote “yes xxx” when he was asked by a convicted paedophile if he wanted to receive sexual images of a person whose “age could be discerned as being between 14 and 16”. The disgraced presenter is in court today to be sentenced after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. Evidence has been heard including a message exchange with Alex Williams, the man who shared indecent images with the former BBC star.

Prosecutor Ian Hope said: “From that chat in December 2020, Alex Williams said that he had ‘a file of vids and pics for you of someone special’. Mr Edwards immediately queried who the subject was and was then sent three images of seemingly the same person, from two of which images the subject’s age could be discerned as being between 14 and 16. “These two were category C indecent images of children in which the child was exposing his penis.

Alex Williams stated that he had ‘12 videos and 42 pics I’ve sent you a video of him before’. Shortly after Alex Williams asked: ‘want me to send you the full file?’ Mr Edwards responded ‘Yes xxx..

.’ "Immediately following which Williams sent to Edwards around 30 attachments, about half of which were category C indecent images of children.” Williams, a 25-year-old fellow Welshman, was given a 12-month suspended jail term earlier this year after pleading guilty to seven offences related to possessing and distributing indecent images.

Edwards was suspended from his position but remained on the payroll and was charged on June 26. On July 31, Westminster Magistrates Court heard how Edwards admitted to having made seven Category A - the worst category - indecent images of children, as well as 12 Category B, and 22 Category C images. This includes two videos of a boy thought to be between the ages of seven and nine years old.

The Met previously revealed that the 62-year-old's vile double life was finally exposed by chance, during a probe relating to convicted paedophile Alex Williams. Here's how officers brought Edwards to justice. Officers began their investigation into Edwards after studying a phone relating to Williams' case.

It was then that South Wales Police learned that father-of-five Edwards had been involved in a sick WhatsApp conversation filled with images of child abuse. A Met spokesperson told the Mail Online: "The investigation into Huw Edwards began in November 2023 after information was received from South Wales Police. "An examination of a phone seized by South Wales officers as part of an entirely unrelated investigation had revealed Edwards' participation in a WhatsApp conversation.

There was no connection between this investigation and the matters reviewed in July 2023. One other person was charged in relation to the messages shared via WhatsApp. He is Alex Williams, 25, of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

Williams pleaded guilty to seven offences following an investigation by South Wales Police." Williams was given a suspended 12-month jail sentence at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on March 15, after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing category A, B and C images as well as possessing prohibited images of children. The Sentencing Council defines category A images as those involving penetrative sexual activity, sexual activity with an animal, or sadism.

Category B images refer to those involving non-penetrative sexual activity, while Category C images are indecent images that don't fall into categories A or B. Follow Mirror Celebs on Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads ..
