An annual faith walk returned to Bolton as people from around the world descended upon town. The walk, which celebrated its 36th year, saw hundreds of Muslims come to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. People travelled from far and wide for the event, including far-flung destinations like Mauritius, Spain, Italy and South Africa.
Before leaving the Makkah Mosque, in Great Lever, t here was a wide range of food, tea and coffee, and ice cream on offer for those taking part. It is a cultural event which celebrates the birth of our Prophet, it brings everyone happiness.
" Safi Badder was among those who travelled from Peterborough for the walk. Prophet Muhammad faith walk (Image: Newsquest) He said: "We left at 8.30am today and won't get back until around 9pm or 10pm, but we have had refreshments on the coach on the way up.
"We are here to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. It can be hard to take the life of a person who was in the desert 1500 years ago and apply it now. "That is why people have come from all over the UK and have put the effort in, for the benefit of them and their children.
" Ward councillor Mohammed Ayub was present on the day as well. He said: "People have come from all over. It is very important, it shows how peaceful we all can be.
"It is so peaceful and just a celebration of the Prophet Muhammad.".
