The block-busting donation to the paediatric wards at Basildon, Southend, and Broomfield hospitals came courtesy of Lego, and one of its partner charities Fairy Bricks. From Disney and Marvel sets to everything in between, these Lego creations are designed to spark creativity and provide a much-needed distraction for young patients during their hospital stay. Lisa Kawa-Akenbo, lead health play specialist at Mid and South Essex NHS Trust, said: "It is incredible to see how these little bricks can bring so much joy and help create a sense of normalcy during a tough time for these children.

"This donation makes a big lasting impact for them." In preparation for Christmas, all Trust hospitals are accepting donations of patient gifts. All donations need to be made via the hospital’s charity, rather than directly to wards.
