Tragically, mum-to-two Jade's cancer has spread and she has now been told she only has weeks to live

A woman whose only symptom of cancer was a mouth ulcer on her tongue has been "told she only has weeks to live", her heartbroken family has said. Jade Grice, 40, a mum-of-two from west Hull, was diagnosed with mouth cancer in November last year. Since then, Jade has undergone surgery which means she can no longer speak and her family said they'd recently received the terrible news the cancer was terminal.

Her sister, Kayleigh Grice, told Hull Live: "She didn't notice any symptoms, but she had an ulcer on her tongue which turned out to be cancerous." She said the whole family was "devastated" by the diagnosis. Sadly, more than 10,000 people in the UK were diagnosed with mouth cancer last year, according to the charity Mouth Cancer Foundation.

The charity claims that more people in the UK die each year of mouth cancer than of cervical and testicular cancer combined. Chelsee Denby, Jade's cousin, has set up a GoFundMe page for the family. On the page, she said Jade's surgery left her unable to talk or eat, but initially was told with further treatment she would recover.

Tragically, just weeks later, Jade was told the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, Chelsee said. When Jade began to suffer from blurred vision, she was informed the cancer has "spread to her brain". Chelsee wrote: "Jade has now been told she only has weeks to live, leaving behind her partner and two children aged 13 and 8, so I am hoping we can raise some funds to make the last days of Jade's life as comfortable as possible and to give some support to Jade's partner and children.

" The main symptoms of mouth cancer are "very common and can be caused by other conditions", the NHS says on its website . Symptoms include: Mouth ulcer that lasts more than three weeks, Red or white patch inside the mouth Lump inside the mouth or lip Pain inside the mouth Difficulty swallowing Difficulty speaking or a hoarse (croaky) voice Lump in the neck or throat Losing weight without trying The GoFundMe page for Jade's family is active and has a target of £900. Chelsee said that "anything at all will help and will be very much appreciated".
