Hull KR CEO Paul Lakin has been appointed as a director of Super League Europe. Lakin, alongside St Helens' Eamonn McManus, has been named as a new addition to the board after being nominated by their peers at Super League Europe. Their new roles will see them act as Super League representatives on the board of Rugby League Commercial and they will be tasked with reporting back to their colleagues after being nominated to take on the duty.

They replace Jonathan Murphy and Peter Hutton, the latter of whom has become an independent non-executive director. The board also consists of chair Frank Slevin and RFL representatives Simon Johnson and Anna Chanduvi, as well as IMG representative Ed Mallaburn. Lakin has played an instrumental role in the rise of Hull KR , overseeing on-field progress as well as drastic improvements off the field.

Meanwhile, St Helens chairman McManus is a long-serving and respected figure at board level following his service to the Super League club. Slevin said: “The Board would like to thank Jonathan Murphy for the experience and expertise he has contributed as a Non-Executive Director of Rugby League Commercial over the last two years, following the establishment of Rugby League Commercial in January 2023. “I’m also pleased that Peter Hutton has agreed to support me as the Board’s Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, given his knowledge of the sports broadcasting landscape, as we look to build on the successes of the last two seasons.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Eamonn and Paul who will add many years of business and Rugby League experience as we continue to broaden our commercial revenues.” Clic k here - Get the latest news on our Rugby League Live WhatsApp channel.
