Hull City will be backed by their biggest away following of the season so far when they travel to face Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday this weekend. More than 3,000 Tigers fans will descend on the Steel City in the hope of seeing Ruben Selles' Tigers claim a first Hillsborough victory since Jarrod Bowen's only goal secured a 1-0 win back in 2020. There had been concerns that City's away following would be reduced in number owing to the big Hull FC vs Hull KR Challenge Cup quarter-final at the MKM Stadium taking place on the same afternoon, coupled with the exorbitant £36 ticket prices.
But Tigers fans will be turning out in good numbers in both the upper and lower tiers of the Leppings Lane end of the famous old ground. The Tigers' initial allocation of 2,395 for the upper tier has long since sold out with tickets now on sale in the lower tier of the Leppings Lane end of Hillsborough, and expectations are that around 3,500 will be there to cheer on Selles' men. City will go into the big Yorkshire derby desperate for a positive result after the disappointment of Saturday's damaging 1-0 home loss to fellow strugglers Luton Town, and could find themselves just a point, and place, above the drop zone by the time they get to Sheffield, if Derby County beat Preston North End on Wednesday night.
City twice faced the Owls in the first half of the campaign, losing 2-1 to a much-changed Wednesday side in the first round of the Carabao Cup back in early August before a 2-0 success for Danny Rohl's side at the MKM Stadium in late November sealed the fate of Tim Walter, with the German sacked in the hours after that damaging defeat. Now, with just seven games to go, Wednesday sit 12th in the league and five points off the top six after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at the Tigers' relegation rivals Cardiff City on Saturday, but have won just five times at Hillsborough all season, and bar City, have the worst home record in the Championship with 22 of their 52 points coming in S6. Hull City ticket update for pivotal Championship fixture at Sheffield Wednesday

City will be gunning for revenge after twice losing to the Owls in the opening weeks of the season
