Hull City facing anxious wait over summer signing after missing Watford loss

Hull City will hope Gustavo Puerta is given the all-clear to be in the squad to face Coventry City on Monday night. Puerta did not travel with the rest of the City squad to Hertfordshire for Tuesday night's disappointing 1-0 loss at Watford after complaining of stomach pains on Monday and was assessed in hospital, which saw him ruled out of a game the Tigers lost after Moussa Sissoko's cool finish early in the second half. It's understood Puerta has been suffering from similar pains to those experienced by Charlie Hughes earlier in the season when he was struck down by an appendix issue, with the club hoping his course of treatment solves the problem in the next few days.

Naturally, there was some scepticism from sections of the fanbase about whether or not Puerta was withdrawn because of the clause in his loan deal which will see City sign the 21-year-old for £3m once he makes a certain number of appearances, and that figure is close, but Selles refuted those claims. "Gustavo needed to go to the hospital before the training session (on Monday) because he had some stomach pain," Selles told Hull Live. "They did some checks at the hospital, and he needs to rest.

He's at home now. "He's got some medication, and then we need to see the evolution over the next two to five days. Hopefully he will be better.
