Ruben Selles says he hopes John Egan will be available for Friday’s trip to Swansea City after being forced off in the second half of Monday’s pulsating 1-1 draw with Coventry City . Hull City defender Egan complained of blurred vision in the second half, and was replaced by Alfie Jones 13 minutes from time, who he had replaced in the starting line-up against the Sky Blues. The former Sheffield United promotion-winning skipper has impressed since coming into the side, and losing him for any length of time would be a blow, but Selles is hopeful that it won’t be anything serious, and crucially, it wasn’t concussion-related, meaning he won’t be subject to those stringent protocols.
"John started to apparently detect something; some problem in there with his vision during the second half, so that's why we needed to stop the game," Selles said after seeing his side recover from Charlie Hughes' unfortunate own goal at the start of the second half to snatch a draw when Abu Kamara equalised late on. "Right now, he's with the doctor. It was not due to a concussion or anything which sometimes happens in these situations, is, but it doesn't look serious right now, but we need to take it as it is serious.
" City also continue to wait for the green light from Aston Villa for attacking playmaker Louie Barry, who continues his recovery from a knee ligament injury. Barry will miss the upcoming Easter programme, but it's hoped he could feature in the final two games of the season against Derby County and Portsmouth. Two of Selles' earlier changes which came just before the hour mark saw Kamara and Nordin Amrabat come on for Kasey Palmer and Lincoln.
Palmer's withdrawal drew a few jeers from some home supporters, but given Amrabat was lively and setup Kamara for the equaliser, the Spaniard will rightly claim his changes worked. "I think I know a little bit what I'm doing," Selles said with a wry smile. "I knew that Abu and Nordin could make an impact in the positions that we brought them in, and then we moved Joe Gelhardt a little bit higher up the pitch.
That worked because not only in the situation that we scored, but I think it also worked in a couple of situations that we created. We knew that we could have an impact with them on the pitch, and they did it." Did you know that you can get daily Tigers news sent straight to your device as soon as it happens through WhatsApp?
