Hull City head coach Tim Walter says season-ending injuries to Mohamed Belloumi and Liam Millar will not change the club's transfer plans for the upcoming January window. Two of City 's key summer signings have both suffered devastating ACL injuries in recent weeks , handing City, and Walter, hammer blows in their bid to arrest an alarming run of form which has seen the Tigers win just three of their 15 league games so far. Abu Kamara also missed two games before the international break, though it's hoped he'll be fit to return at Luton Town this weekend, leaving Walter with significantly reduced options going into a period that could make or break his position, and City's season.
City do have Ryan Longman and Dogukan Sinik returning from long-term injuries of their own, and youngster Will Jarvis, who remains something on an enigma, according to the Tigers' German coach. Despite that, however, Walter says planning is well underway for the club's January recruitment, but says it won't be impacted by the long-term absences of Millar and Belloumi. "No, because we always have our eyes open to get more players in with more quality to help us get better," he said when asked if plans would change because of the injuries.
"We have to do it, that's our job. It's our job to keep our eyes open, to make the club and the team much stronger." Just 41 days remain before the window opens for business, but Walter says it changes nothing and that the club are fully prepared for it getting underway on New Year's Day.
"Yeah, I agree (that the window is looming large on the horizon) Nobody knows it is Christmas then, because it's not every year on the same on the same day, so it's always the same," he joked. "It's the same with the transfer period, so everybody knows that January is open for the transfer period and and then it's there, so it's life." Where do City need to strengthen in January?
