H.S. FOOTBALL: Attleboro can't keep up with Taunton at home

ATTLEBORO -- The Attleboro High football team fell short against Taunton High Friday night, losing 16-7 at home. Attleboro capitalized on a Taunton fumble at the Tigers' 14-yard line, scoring to go ahead 7-0 in the first quarter on a 7-yard touchdown run Michael Huntington. Taunton answered with under two to go in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.

Taunton made it 13-7, failing on the two-point attempt with 17 seconds to halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, the Bombardiers were gifted good field position following an interception by Madden Murray on the 37-yard line in the fourth quarter, but were unable to do anything with it and punted away. The Tigers then extended their lead to 16-7 with a 31-yard field goal from Trinley Dudley with 1:16 to go to close out the scoring.



Will Plizga also had a fumble recovery for Attleboro. The Bombardiers (3-4) stay home next Friday to host King Philip. King Philip 41, Milford 7 MILFORD -- Milford scored first, but it was all King Philip from there in a blowout win for the unbeaten Warriors.

Milford scored at the midway point of the first quarter, and King Philip tied the game at 11:52 in the second quarter on a Zach Gedhard touchdown pass to Hayden Schmitz. A Drew Laplante touchdown gave King Philip a 13-7 lead going into halftime. The Warriors poured it on in the second half, making it 19-7 on a Tallan King run, and extended it to 27-7 with a Tommy Kilroy interception that was ran back for a score and a two-point conversion with over nine minutes to go in the third quarter.

King Philip didn't let up the rest of the way, putting the game well out of reach through the later stages of the third quarter and fourth. Brandon Nicastro also had an interception in the win. King Philip (7-0) visits Attleboro on Friday.

Foxboro 37, Stoughton 7 STOUGHTON -- The Warriors routed Stoughton, winning by 30. Foxboro, now winners of four in a row at 4-3, hosts North Attleboro on Friday. Joseph Case 21, Seekonk 16 SWANSEA -- The Warriors lost their fourth straight, falling to Joseph Case.

Joey Nolan was 1-for-3 in the passing game, with his one completion a 52-yard score to Gavin Reich. Seekonk's Nico Bonafiglia ran for 97 yards on 19 attempts and Ben Figueiredo ran for a touchdown from a yard out. Nolan also ran for 58 yards.

Defensively, Seekonk allowed 122 passing yards and 151 yards on the ground. The Warriors (2-5) will try to bounce back next Friday, hosting Bourne. Old Rochester Regional 42, Dighton-Rehoboth 6 MATTAPOISETT -- The Falcons avoided a shutout with a fourth quarter touchdown in their loss to Old Rochester.

A 10-yard pass from Christian Bielawski to Yasiel Rodrigues cut the deficit down late. D-R's point after attempt was no good. Bielawski passed for 50 yards on six completions.

Kensley Macean ran for 23 yards. Dighton-Rehoboth (0-7) visits Greater New Bedford on Friday. Tri-County.
