Jain also secured the seat in 2015 with 51,530 votes, narrowly beating Vats, who garnered 48,397 votes, while Congress' Chaman Lal Sharma received 4,812 votes.On February 5, 63.23% of the eligible voting population came out to vote in Shakur Basti. The BJP has been repeatedly targeting AAP over Satyendar Jain's incarceration but mellowed its attack after his release. It now remains to be seen how the public perceives his arrest and release after two years.
