The Arizona Diamondbacks are heading to New York for their first road trip of the 2025 season, and Corbin Burnes will get his first start as a member of the D-Backs. The Arizona Diamondbacks signed free agent and ace pitcher Corbin Burnes earlier this year to a 6-year, $210 million dollar contract, pairing him with the likes of Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly for the 2025 season. Looking at Burnes’ body of work in 2024, in 194.

1 innings pitched, he had a 15-9 record along with 181 strikeouts and 1 2.92 ERA. Corbin Burnes was widely considered one of the most talented and sought after free agents this offseason.

Burnes, a former National League Cy Young winner back in 2021, will hopefully bring his stability and consistency to the desert for years to come. His first task, going up against the red hot New York Yankees in the big apple. Burnes has pitched twice in this stadium before, once each of the last two seasons.

In a total of 13 innings, Burnes had 16 strikeouts with only three walks and only gave up one earned run. His outing in New York during the 2024 season, Burnes struck out 9 over 5 innings. If he pitches for the D-Backs like he did in those two appearances, the snakes might be sitting pretty in his first start of the season.

He will face the American League player of the week Aaron Judge , and the rest of his Yankees team that has been firing on all cylinders as of late. Whether it is a stacked lineup or torpedo bats, Burnes will have his hands full in tomorrow’s matchup. Reporter Benjamin Bliklen covers the Arizona Diamondbacks for Burn City Sports.
