The 59th edition of the FIS Alpine World Cup will be kicking off with a traditional stop in Soelden, Austria this week, and some of the world's best alpine skiers will be competing. Switzerland's Olympic champions Marco Odermatt and Lara Gut-Behrami will be looking to defend their overall titles this season, but American star Mikaela Shiffrin will surely pose a threat in the women's competition. WATCH: Alpine Ski World Cup live on Peacock Shiffrin suffered an MCL sprain after crashing out in a speed race in January, but was able to return to the slopes in March and claim her record-equaling eighth slalom title.

She'll be chasing her sixth overall crystal globe this season. The race in Soelden marks the beginning of a six-month season that will conclude in March in Sun Valley, Idaho. Here's everything you need to know to watch.
