Afghanistan spinner and MI Cape Town skipper Rashid Khan has revealed that he writes certain things on his arms to remember how to strategise during matches, taking inspiration from Netflix's American drama series Prison Break. The characters in the five-season series gave him the idea to take notes on his arms so that he doesn't forget anything during a game. The SA20 2025 final is all set to take place between Rashid's MI Cape Town and Aiden Markram's Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Saturday, February 8 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Rashid suggested that if Cape Town manage to win the title, some of the credit should go to Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, among other characters of the series. His team's last match was the Qualifier 1 on February 4 and he spent the next three days binge-watching Prison Break, which gave him the unique idea. "The series gives you an idea of how to get out of difficulties in pressure situations.
It gives you ideas, for the game as well and you have to use that. Sometimes you forget things as a captain, so I had the idea to write things on my arm to be able to know about the next over," Rashid told the media ahead of the final. In the series, Scofield's tattoos have crucial codes and texts that would help him in his mission, much like Rashid looks ahead to taking his team to a maiden title.
"I sat in my room and watched Netflix a lot. It's difficult going from one city to another city, where there are different conditions and different pitches and you have to react. But that's where your experience comes in.
As a professional cricketer, you have to use that experience," Rashid said. Sunrisers are two-time defending champions and the Afghan spinner will have a task at hand to bag the title.
