Brighton’s railway station building has undergone several transformations over the past 40 years, evolving from vintage to vintage-modern. Brighton station is known for its distinctive Victorian architecture, including its clock tower, large glass canopy, and detailed brickwork. The station was built in 1840 and initially only connected Brighton to Shoreham-by-Sea.

(Image: The Argus) Since the 1990s, in response to increased passenger numbers and the introduction of longer trains, the station's platforms were extended to accommodate these larger trains, improving capacity and flow. Among the modern upgrades have included better access for disabled passengers, updated retail facilities, and improved security systems. In the early 2000s, Brighton Station was part of the Gateway project, which aimed to improve the station's facilities, making it more accessible and efficient for passengers.
