HOUSTON, Texas — Two Houston families were left heartbroken after a deadly crash on the Gulf Freeway last weekend. Adam Ross said his daughter Tayler was killed when she stopped to help another crash victim. "That's what she was concerned about, 'Let me help this person in the other car,'" Ross told KHOU 11.

When Tayler got out of her friend's SUV, she was struck and killed. The woman she stopped to help also died after a hit-and-run driver crashed into her vehicle. "Multiple families have been affected by these actions," Ross said.

"I know right now, they're probably scared, you know, and thinking it's going to go away but it's not going to go away." Tayler also left behind a six-year-old daughter who she'd just dropped off at a slumber party. Ross said little Riley is struggling to comprehend that her mother is gone.

"She has a big support system," Ross said. Ross said he and Tayler's mother, Michele, are rallying around Riley. They plan to establish a scholarship fund to help ensure a solid future.

When Tayler was born severely premature 31 years ago, doctors didn't think she'd survive. "She came as a miracle child," Ross remembered. "They said she wasn't going to live to see a year, but Tayler lived to be 31.

" Now, he's stunned that his only daughter overcame the odds only to be taken too soon years later. "Sometimes I'm quiet, sometimes I'm just thinking about the "should've, would've, could've. The conversations that I wanted to have, we can't have.

" While it might be human nature to stop and help someone in trouble like Tayler did, police say it's extremely dangerous on freeways. They said it's safer to stay in your vehicle and call 911..
