While the announcement doesn’t carry the same excitement as school kids eagerly sharing their class schedule, the House Republican Caucus officially doled out committee assignments Tuesday as lawmakers prepare to return to the state capitol next month. Much like students moving to new classrooms following the summer break, several local legislators will find themselves in new roles when the Legislature officially reconvenes on Jan. 13.
House Republicans took care of the first order of business last month when they reelected Rep. Andrew Stokesbary, R-Auburn, to serve as house minority leader, and appointed Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, to serve as caucus chair.
Though the committee assignments are subject to change, here’s a look at the committees that local lawmakers will sit on come January. The 2025 session is scheduled to last 105 days. 19th District: • Rep.
