Hour-by-hour weather forecast as high winds hit Wirral

High winds are battering Wirral and surrounding areas following a Met Office yellow weather warning.

Overnight and this morning (Sunday, December 22), the borough and Merseyside has been hit by strong winds. The yellow warning came into effect at 7am on Saturday (December 21) and is in place until 9pm tonight. Wind speeds over 60 mph are forecast.

The Met Office has warned of some short-term loss of power and other services are possible, along with delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges. The Met Office has warned that some delays to road, rail, air are likely as well as bus and train services affected with some journeys taking longer. It is also likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and large waves.
