New research conducted for Best Western suggests that 30 per cent of Brits are now 'breakfast scrollers,' using their phones during the first meal of the day. The research was conducted by LMRC with a sample of 2,000 consumers, with surveys taking place between January 1, 2025 and January 15, 2025. Its findings come as the hotel chain is offering a free breakfast with every Rewards booking under the 'Free Breakfast' rate throughout all of 2025.
The survey also claimed to find that 27 per cent of Brits no longer care about table manners. Tea was the most popular choice of drink to have with breakfast, at 36 per cent, closely followed by coffee at 22 per cent. Energy drinks (15 per cent) were more popular than juice (14 per cent).
Among the popular choices of breakfast dish were the classic Full English, overnight oats, and avocado on toast. The study also found that 39 per cent of people go barefoot at breakfast, and 13 per cent wear their pyjamas at the table.
