The Beaumont Hospital has been recognised by the National Joint Registry (NJR) for its commitment to patient safety. The hospital, part of Circle Health Group, was named an NJR Quality Data Provider after completing a national data audit programme. This recognition highlights the hospital's dedication to the safety and security of its patients.
The NJR monitors the performance of joint replacement procedures, including hip, knee, ankle, elbow, and shoulder. It aims to improve clinical outcomes for the benefit of patients and provide feedback on surgical performance to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers. The registry collects 'high-quality orthopaedic data' to support patient safety, quality of care standards, and the overall value of joint replacement surgery.
The NJR Quality Data Provider certificate scheme was introduced to provide hospitals with a blueprint for achieving high-quality standards relating to patient safety. It recognises hospitals that have met the organisation's 'high targets for the quality of the data collected.' Each audit compares the number of joint replacement procedures submitted to the registry with the number carried out and recorded in the local hospital Patient Administration System.
This ensures the NJR is collecting and reporting the most complete and accurate data across all hospitals performing joint replacement operations, including The Beaumont Hospital. David Pearson, executive director of The Beaumont Hospital, said: "We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding quality of care to patients we see and are delighted to see our approach to patient safety recognised by the National Joint Registry. "We fully support their work and are committed to working with them for the benefit of our joint replacement patients.
" Tim Wilton, medical director of the National Joint Registry, said: "Congratulations to colleagues at The Beaumont Hospital, as well being a fundamental driver to inform improved quality of care for patients, registry data provides an important source of evidence for regulators, such as the Care Quality Commission, to inform their judgements about the quality of health services. "The Quality Data Provider Award received by the team demonstrates the high standards being met towards ensuring compliance with the NJR and is a reflection of strong departmental efforts to achieve such status."
