The Macmillan Unit, located at Christchurch Hospital, supports more than 2,200 people and their families every year.

Each year, Harbour View Crematorium in Lytchett Minster, owned by Tapper Funeral Service, recycles metals collected after cremations. These recycled metals are used to produce items like road signs and aeroplane parts. The crematorium receives cheques based on the value of the recycled materials.

The money is then donated to hospice charities across Dorset and Hampshire. Chris Johnson, branch manager of Tapper Funeral Service in Christchurch, presented the £11,384.74 cheque to staff at the Macmillan Unit.

Mr Johnson said: "The Macmillan Unit has been providing specialist end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses for many decades and it is an honour and a privilege for us to be able to support that work." The Macmillan Unit, located at Christchurch Hospital, supports more than 2,200 people and their families every year. Neal Williams, trust secretary of Macmillan Caring Locally, the charity funding the Macmillan Unit, expressed gratitude for the donation.

He said: "We are very grateful to Chris and all the team at Harbour View Crematorium and Tapper Funeral Service. "This generous donation will be extremely helpful in our continuing support for our patients and their families.".
