New Delhi: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has surpassed 10 million sales of its popular two-wheeler, Activa in South India, achieving a significant milestone.

This achievement highlights the ongoing popularity of the Activa, particularly in key states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, as well as union territories such as Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Launched in 2001, the Activa has become synonymous with reliability, practicality, and innovation, dominating the Indian two-wheeler market over the past two decades. The Activa’s journey to this remarkable milestone speaks volumes about its widespread acceptance.



The first 5 million units of the scooter were sold by 2017, nearly 16 years after its initial launch. However, its growing popularity in recent years has seen the next 5 million units sold within just seven years, demonstrating its increasing dominance and popularity in the Indian market, especially in the commuter segment. This includes sales of the entire Activa family, including both the 110cc and 125cc models, which continue to cater to a wide range of customer preferences.

HMSI attributes much of its success in the South to its extensive sales and service network, which now boasts over 1,700 touchpoints across the region. This strong network has enabled Honda to reach even the most remote areas, ensuring consistent after-sales service and product availability. The Southern market, known for its discerning customers, has played a crucial role in cementing the Activa’s position as India’s favourite scooter.
