The supermarket in northern Daegu's Chilgok was reopened on Sept. 5 as Homeplus Mega Food Market Chilgok Store, expanding its offerings with regard to food, retail shopping and dine-in services. The location has been the region’s key go-to spot for local grocery shoppers, leading the regional shopping scene across various age groups, according to the company.

Homeplus undertook the renovations as the store has been one of the company’s top-performing locations nationwide in terms of sales. According to the company, a significantly higher proportion of "premium shoppers" — frequent visitors who tend to spend more than average — and customers aged 50 and older visit this store compared to other locations in its network. “The revamp was based on our analysis of visitor data to the Chilgok store,” said Cho Do-yeon from Homeplus’ marketing division.

“We’ve beefed up the food and dine-in sections as well as other elements by which visitors can hopefully stay inside the store for longer.” The 31st nationwide Homeplus Mega Food Market has revitalized its fresh and packaged food aisles based on recent consumer trends and preferences. Steak House, Dining Street and a display dedicated to sushi and sashimi platters are the new sections with dedicated specialties.

Boneless fried chicken buckets and bakeries under the company's private brand Mon Boulanger have also received a boost in supply due to their popularity. Shops for the store’s food & beverage dine-in court have also expanded in number to target young shoppers as well as families..
