Holy Meat Festival coming to the Algarve

International chefs and lots of entertainment will feature in the Holy Meat Festival, which will take place in the western area of ​​Monte Gordo beach, in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA), on 26 April.

This is, according to the VRSA Chamber , “an unprecedented gastronomic event that promises to transform the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António into an unmissable meeting point for lovers of good food, Mediterranean tradition and culinary innovation”. The festival will feature more than 10 national and international chefs, including Samuel Rosa, Paula Labaki (Brazil) and “other leading figures in the gastronomic scene, who will present live demonstrations of fire cooking techniques, such as parrilla, varal and cruzeta”. “More than just a barbecue, the Holy Meat Festival is a celebration of flavours, aromas and traditional techniques, reinterpreted with creativity and innovation.

The program also includes live music, cultural presentations, leisure areas and spaces designed for all ages, creating a festive and family atmosphere in one of the most emblematic settings in the municipality”, describes the city hall. Entry costs 15 euros per person and includes a reusable sustainable kit, consisting of a plate, cutlery and glass, “reflecting the municipality's commitment to reducing waste and promoting environmentally responsible practices”. The Holy Meat Festival closes the “Better Food + Health” project, promoted by the Municipal Health Office of the Vila Real de Santo António City Council, which, throughout the month of April, “will promote showcooking sessions in the municipal markets of Vila Nova de Cacela (5 April), Vila Real de Santo António (12) and Monte Gordo (19)”.
