This Morning viewers were left in tears as Holocaust survivor Renee Salt recalled the harrowing moments she arrived at Bergen-Belsen.

Renee Salt shared her harrowing Holocaust experiences with ITV's This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. Speaking to the hosts on Tuesday (April 15), she recounted vivid memories of her time at Bergen-Belsen, where she was taken as a young girl. Dermot commented: "We read so much about it, and we've seen the footage.

But, from someone who was there, it just seems unimaginable." Renee recounted her arrival at the concentration camp as she described the tragic scene. She added: "I came to Bergen-Belsen on a train from Hamburg, they stopped us in the middle of nowhere, they started screaming, 'Get off the train, be quick.

' Which we did, we jumped off." "We had to hold on to one another to remain standing, we were gasping for water, it was so hot already. It was April, it was hot.

They lined us up and they took us to a hut." After being forced off the train, Renee explained that they were made to walk through miles of woodland until reaching the camp, adding: "They opened up the gates and we're pushed through." Once inside the camp, she described a shocking scene, adding: "The scene that met us there, it's not possible to describe.

Here, we saw skeletons walking, their arms and legs were like matchsticks. Their eyes bulged grotesquely out of their skull-like faces. "Some were dressed in rags, others were naked.

The stench that arose from the camp was impossible to describe." Renee said while visibly moved by the painful memories, indicating to Alison and Dermot how extreme their suffering had been, reports the Express . In an emotional moment, she concluded: "This was something different, horrifyingly different.

" Renee recounted her appalling experiences before being moved to the camp, where as a child, she was subjected to slave labour in Hamburg: "We had to carry sacks of cement on my back." Alison noted with alarm that Renee was only around 14-years-old at the time of these events. Overcome with emotion, Renee admitted: "I still suffer from my back, I still suffer from my back.

The pain never left me." Viewers were deeply touched by Renee's raw emotional retelling, and many found themselves moved to tears by her experiences. One individual was particularly struck by Renee's story, commenting: "What a heartbreaking interview.

I can't begin to imagine what this lady has been through." Emotions ran high among the audience, as another said: "This lady is obviously so distressed, I hope there is support there for her." A third person praised her strength, commenting: "What a brave lady.

. bless her." The sentiment was echoed by another who said: "Tears running down my face as I listened to this most incredible and humbling woman who exudes courage in every breath.
