Hoag Memorial victories to Alex Payne and Jordan Thomas

Alex Payne and Jordan Thomas came away from the 13th annual Hoag Memorial program with feature wins this weekend.

Dick O'Brien | Contributing Writer The 13th annual Hoag Memorial program closed out the 2024 season at the Outlaw Speedway this weekend and Alex Payne and Jordan Thomas came away with feature wins. Saturday night’s 40-lap, modified test saw Alex Payne lead a strong modified field on the 4/10-mile Dundee oval and race to a $7,777.77 win.

Danny Johnson, Matt Sheppard, Rocky Warner and Bobby Hackel completed the top five finishers, James Friesen won the sportsman finale Saturday and he walked away with a $5.077.77 check.



Friday night’s program at Outlaw was highlighted by the final 2024 race for The Empire Super Sprint tour. The 25-lap, A-main was taken by Jordan Thomas of Harding, Pennsylvania and he pocketed a $4,000 check for his efforts. Jared Zimbardi, Shawn Donath, Matt Farnham and Robbie Stillwagon completed the top five ESS finishers.

Fall Nationals: The Brockville (Ontario) Speedway held their annual Fall Nationals weekend and Saturday night’s featured 100-lap/$10,000-to-win main event for DIRT 358 modifieds went to Tristan Draper. Tim Fuller pressured Draper throughout, but couldn’t pull off a passing move. Mat Williamson, Chris Rabbe and Ryan Arbuthnot filled out the top five finishers.

Quebec’s Felix Roy won the 2024 DIRT 358 title. Friday night’s DIRT 358 preliminary feature was won by Tristan Draper’s brother Kalen. Lance Willix, Chris Rabbe and Mat Williamson followed Draper to the checkers.

Georgetown: The Georgetown (Delaware) Speedway ran a $12,000-to-win, big-block modified special Friday night and Anthony Perrego won it. Alex Yankowski, Jordan Warson, Ryan Godown and Ryan Krachun followed. Stewart Friesen failed to finish and ended up 24th.

Bonsignore doubles: The North Wilkesboro (North Carolina) Speedway ran a pair of pavement modified specials this weekend and Justin Bonsignore won them both. Saturday’s Smart Modified Tour’s 99-lap feature saw Bonsignore just nose out Matt Hirschman for the win. Luke Baldwin finished third, but that was enough to wrap up the 2024 Smart Modified Tour championship for the twenty-year-old Baldwin.

Sunday saw a 150-lap, Whelen Modified Tour event at North Wilkesboro and Bonsignore won that one too. This Holtsville, Long Island driver led 130 of the 150 laps and took a ten-point lead over Ronnie Silk in their battle for the Whelen title. Silk finished 11th Sunday, with just one Whelen point race left on the 2024 schedule.
