Qatar tribune Hanane Djoua Doha As part of its commitment to providing uninterrupted healthcare services during Eid Al-Fitr, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has reported its emergency response and patient care statistics, highlighting its readiness to handle medical cases across the country. Ali Darwish, assistant executive director of Ambulance Services at Hamad Medical Corporation, stated that the total number of emergency reports over the first and second days of Eid reached 584 cases, including 54 reports related to accidents and six air ambulance cases. During the Eid period, HMC’s Ambulance Service responded to 284 emergency calls, ensuring swift medical attention to those in need, including 12 cases related to road traffic accidents, two critical medical cases transported via LifeFlight air ambulance, and other medical emergencies requiring immediate intervention.

Hamad General Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) received a total of 611 patients, including 119 trauma-related cases. The most common medical complaints leading to emergency visits included abdominal pain, fever, chest pain, and injuries from road traffic accidents. Hamad Medical Corporation ’s Paediatric Emergency Centres (PECs) recorded fewer cases on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr compared to the previous week, according to Dr.

Mohammed Alamri, Chairman of the Paediatric Departments at HMC and Director of PEC. The main PEC in Al Sadd received the highest number of cases (370 cases), followed by centres in Al Rayyan, the Airport, Al Wakra, Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, and Al Khor. Dr.

Alamri noted that the number of cases was 30 percent lower than the previous week, attributing the drop to families being occupied with Eid celebrations. All cases were mild to moderate, with no critical cases reported. The most common illnesses included upper respiratory tract infections, acute gastroenteritis, and mild fever.

“Only nine patients from PEC Al Sadd were transferred to the Medical Care and Research Center for further evaluation and treatment,” Dr. Alamri said. “The number is lower than in recent days.

We think that on the first day of Eid, many people are busy visiting relatives and treating children, particularly those with mild conditions, at home,” he added. Hamad Medical Corporation continues to prioritize patient care and emergency preparedness during peak holiday seasons. The corporation urges the public to remain cautious, especially on the roads, and to seek immediate medical assistance through its emergency helpline in case of any health concerns.
