Indian batsmen fell down in the Test series against New Zealand. The team which was all out for 46 runs in the first innings of the Bengaluru Test, proved to be a flop in Pune as well. In the first innings of the second match, the Indian team collapsed for 156 runs while in the second innings it could score only 245 runs.
Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal, no other player could bat well. The New Zealand team took an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning two consecutive matches in the three-match series. By bowling the best in his Test career, Mitchell Santner silenced the Indian team’s top batsmen.
In the first innings, this spinner took 7 wickets for just 53 runs in 19.3 overs. He wreaked havoc in the second innings as well and showed the magic of taking 6 wickets.
In this match, Santner took a total of 12 wickets which is the best bowling performance of his Test career. Before this, he had never taken even 5 wickets in an innings. Santner’s best performance was taking 3 wickets for 34 runs in an innings.
