A historic East Sussex estate has launched a new holiday initiative. Herstmonceux Castle Estate, set within 300 acres of countryside, is offering 35 self-catering holiday units. The AA 3-star apartments are available for booking from April 2025 to September 2025.
They are located within the Bader Hall building, originally constructed in the 1950s by the Admiralty. Each unit comes equipped with ensuite bathrooms and cooking facilities. Guests staying in April 2025 will also receive complimentary access to the castle, gardens, and grounds.

Dean Pascall, director of the Herstmonceux Castle Estate, said: "We’re delighted to be launching this exciting new initiative at Herstmonceux Castle Estate. "The holiday apartments offer guests the chance to experience the beauty and history of the estate, all while enjoying the comfort and flexibility of self-catering accommodation.
"We are confident that this new offering will attract both those seeking a relaxing break and those eager to explore the many outdoor activities on offer." Bookings for the new lettings are now open through leading holiday rental platforms, including cottages.com.
However, Herstmonceux Castle is currently undergoing conservation work. This means that some parts of the castle will not be open to the public until the works are completed, which is currently scheduled for autumn 2025. Despite this, a substantial part of the castle will remain accessible and available for tours.
