In a recent radio interview, Charles Bissue, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan, sharply criticized Felix Kwakye Ofosu, accusing him of disrespecting President John Dramani Mahama over the ongoing cocaine plane saga as reported by Ghana Web. Bissue questioned Kwakye Ofosu’s decision to speak out publicly on the matter, especially after the President had already tasked security agencies with investigating the drug trafficking allegations. According to Bissue, the Minister of State for Government Communications acted independently and without presidential approval, which, he argued, undermines the authority of the President.
“Felix Kwakye Ofosu arrogantly coming out is not just disrespecting Ghanaians but also disrespecting the president and exposing him,” he stated during an interview on Asaase Radio. Bissue emphasized the importance of following proper procedures, asserting that the security agencies should have completed their investigations before any public statements were made. He stressed that any communication on the issue should have been coordinated among the relevant ministries, with the Ministry of Government Communications providing an official response only after the necessary investigations had been concluded.
He further pointed out that Kwakye Ofosu’s actions have raised concerns about the country’s reputation, suggesting that his uncoordinated remarks risk damaging the integrity of the presidency. “The presidency does not belong to the NDC alone but to all of us. He is exposing the president and must be called to order,” Bissue added, calling for greater discipline in handling such sensitive matters.
