Hillsborough took home three individual first-place finishes and appeared in seven of 14 finals to earn the top spot at the Ricky I Memorial tournament hosted by Gov. Livingston in Berkeley Heights. Ryan Spinelli earned a first-place finish in the 113-pound bracket by defeating Joshua Bender of Longwood (NY) via an 8-3 decision in the final round.
Matt Miller earned a title for the Raiders at 157 by besting St. Thomas Aquinas’ Reed Kersetter via 12-9 decision. Nick Duarte took the heavyweight crown by pinning Marko Simonovic (Ridge).

5 Logan McDermid (120), Zach Iannuci (126), Anthony Mayo (138), and Anthony Franzoso (175) all took second place for the Raiders, while Aren Hidalgo (190) and Corey Iannucci (132) finished third. Nathan Faxon secured the 215-pound championship for the host team by pinning New Providence’s Henry Capasso. Cristian Gioa brought a title home for Gov.
Livingston by pinning Kwabena Morgan in the 165-pound final while Vincent Capone and Henrique Ribeiro also won titles for the Highlanders. Ribeiro pinned Hillsborough’s Mayo in the 138-pound final while Capone took a pin over Jaden Weglinski (Jefferson) in the 150-pound final. Jahir Aguilar earned a title for the Trojans with an injury default win over Ethan Delacruz (Bound Brook in the 132-pound title bout.
Omar Hassan added a second title for St. Thomas Aquinas by pinning Carlos Amorin (Jefferson) at 190. Ben Chacko of Ridge earned the 106-pound title with a pin over Luke Eberhard (Rumson-Fair Haven).
Hudson Platt of Colonia earned the 126-pound title with an 8-3 decision over Zach Iannucci (Hillsborough). The Patriots also got a title at 175 with Logan Goncalves pinning Hillsborough’s Franzoso. New Providence’s Braeden Valley defeated Pfieffer Morrison (Longwood) via pinfall in the 144-pound final.
Longwood’s Anthony Lagala Ryan took the 120-pound title with a tech over Hillsborough’s McDermid. The Raiders earned 207 team points while the hosting Highlanders earned 167.5 points and third-place Bound Brook finished with 144.
