Some drivers using Highway 407 this March will be able to travel during rush hour for free, as part of a limited-time promotion by the 407 Express Toll Route (ETR). The "Spring Into Free Rush Hour" offer, which runs until March 31, covers travel between 7 am to 9:30 am and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Eligible personal vehicles with Ontario plates can take advantage of unlimited travel along the toll highway between the QEW in Burlington and Brock Road in Pickering, provided they signed up for a 407 ETR account and enrolled in the promotion by February 28.
Heavy vehicle transponders are not eligible for the offer. The company said tolls, camera charges, and applicable account fees would be waived during the promotion, with credits appearing on customers’ bills. However, transponder lease fees will still apply.
In an email to CTV News Toronto, 407 ETR stated that over one million customers were targeted for rush hour driving offers, with some promotions lasting up to three months. However, details on how customers were selected remain unclear. “A note in the release says the offer is only available ‘to targeted customers, as determined by 407 ETR in its sole discretion,’” Global News reported.
For future promotions, a spokesperson advised customers to sign up for a 407 ETR account and opt in to marketing emails..
