High schools Saturday: Falmouth cruises past Deering

Boys basketball: Davis Mann and Billy Birks combine for 46 points in a 68-42 win.

Davis Mann scored 24 points and Billy Birks added 22 as Falmouth beat Deering, 68-42, in a boys basketball game Saturday in Portland. The Navigators (4-1) only turned the ball over six times and won their third game in a row. Deering (1-4) got 11 points apiece from Evan Legassey and David Otti.

BONNY EAGLE 58, KENNEBUNK 54: Colin Moran scored 14 points and the Scots (2-4) rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Rams (3-3) in Standish. Max Bouchard added 11 points, CJ Cooper followed with 10 and Benedito Noe had nine, including seven in the fourth quarter, when the Scots closed with a 17-9 run. Kennebunk’s Theo Pow poured 38 points on 11 field goals (four 3-pointers) and 12 of 12 free throws.



Max Andrews had nine points. GARDINER 62, GREELY 52: Trace Moody scored 15 of his 25 points in the second half as the Tigers (3-2) erased an eight-point halftime deficit against the Rangers (2-3) in Gardiner. Brayden Elliott added 14 points for Gardiner, which trailed 36-28 at halftime.

Greely got 16 points from Kade Ippolito, 13 from Luca Cimino and 10 from Ethan Michaud. MARSHWOOD 56, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 55: Liam Tiernan scored 20 points to help the Hawks (4-2) overcome a 37-point outing by John Patenaude of Gray-New Gloucester (1-5) in a win at Gray. Ryan Essex followed with 19 points.

POLAND 53, OAK HILL 33: Nick Jamo scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Knights (2-2) beat the Raiders (1-6) in Wales. Jake Jamo added eight points. Eli Desmond scored 12 points for Oak Hill.

THORNTON ACADEMY 66, BIDDEFORD 46: Wyatt Benoit scored 26 points, Zachary Nelson added 17, and the Trojans (4-1) downed the Tigers (2-2) in Biddeford. Ryan Camire (three 3-pointers), Benoit and Nelson accounted for all of Thornton’s points during a 26-10 third-quarter surge that extended the Trojans’ lead to 52-32. Owen Sylvain scored 13 points for Biddeford.

Travis Edgerton and Julius Searles each had eight. WINDHAM 56, PORTLAND 49: The Eagles (4-0) opened with a 14-4 advantage in the first quarter and led throughout against the Bulldogs (2-4) in Portland. Tyrie James paced the reigning Class AA champions with 19 points.

Joseph Bligh added 11. Maddox Meas scored 10 points for Portland. YORK 84, LINCOLN ACADEMY 68: Reece MacDonald scored 34 points, including five 3-pointers, and the Wildcats (6-0) handled the Eagles (4-2) in Newcastle.

York led 28-15 after one quarter, and MacDonald drained three 3-pointers to second quarter to help stretch the lead to 47-28. Jack Joyce added 11 points, Ryan Cummins had 10 and Lucas Ketchum and Alex Taylor each scored nine. Terry Welle led Lincoln with 17 points, followed by EJ Hunt with 13, and Drew Hunt and Roan Donaghy with nine apiece.

GIRLS BASKETBALL DEERING 49, FALMOUTH 20: Blake Gayle scored 16 points as the Rams (1-4) earned their first win of the season, beating the Navigators (1-5) in Falmouth. Rejoice Kamada chipped in with 12 points. Siobhan Nielsen led Falmouth with nine points.

DIRIGO 25, SACOPEE VALLEY 17: Diana Cayer paced the Cougars (4-3) with 10 points in a win over the Hawks (1-5) at Hiram. Bridget Landry made three 3-pointers and scored 12 points for Sacopee. GREELY 43, GARDINER 39: Sophia Littel scored 13 points, and Avery Bush got four of her nine in overtime as the Rangers (2-3) beat the Tigers (3-2) in Cumberland.

Emilee Brown scored 13 points and Molly Takatsu had nine for Gardiner. KENNEBUNK 59, BONNY EAGLE 28: Kendall Therrien had 28 points and 15 rebounds, Addie Clark added 18 points and five steals, and the Rams (4-2) handled the Scots (0-5) in Kennebunk. Kennebunk built a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 39-20 by halftime.

Kylie Cole scored 10 points and Charlotte Beaulieu finished with eight for Bonny Eagle. LAWRENCE 62, OXFORD HILLS 53: Lilly Gray and Madalyn Provost each scored 17 points as Lawrence spoiled a milestone day for Ella Pelletier of Oxford Hills by beating the previously undefeated Vikings in Paris. Pelletier scored 36 points and reached the 1,000-point mark for her career early in the second quarter.

She had 25 points by halftime, including 17 in the second quarter, to help Oxford Hills (3-1) grab a 33-29 lead. Lawrence (5-0), though, went ahead for good in the third quarter when it outscored the Vikings 21-8. Nadia Morrison (11 points) and Ashley Shores (10) also reached double figures for Lawrence.

Gabbie Tibbetts tallied 15 points for Oxford Hills. MADISON 48, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 29: Raegan Cowan scored 15 points and Mackenzie Robbins had 11 as the Bulldogs (2-2) won in Madison. Ella Giguere led NYA (3-2) with 15 points.

MARSHWOOD 59, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 56: Natalie Lathrop drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Marshwood (6-0) a win over Gray-New Gloucester (4-2) in South Berwick. Lathrop and Isabelle Tice each finished with 16 points, and Emily Clark had 10 for the Hawks. Izzy Morelli paced the Patriots with 24 points.

Abbey Steele chipped in with 16. MOUNTAIN VALLEY 44, CAPE ELIZABETH 22: Alyvia Theriault made six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as the Falcons (4-2) beat the Capers (0-5) in Cape Elizabeth. Madison Dow and Ali Mazza each added eight points.

Lila Rosu-Myles had eight points for Cape Elizabeth. POLAND 72, OAK HILL 22: The Knights (4-0) raced to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and cruised past the Raiders (1-6) in Poland. Twelve players scored for the Knights, paced by Alaina Hamlin with 12 and Lise Poublan with 11.

Kendall Theriault scored eight points for Oak Hill. SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 40, YARMOUTH 24: Maddie Grimaldi sank three 3-pointers in the game’s first minute and Spruce Mountain built a 28-8 halftime lead en route to a win at Yarmouth. Grimaldi finished with 13 points, while Avery Bessey added 10 for the Phoenix (4-0).
