“Our girls in the front did a really good job of shutting down their middle hitter. “The girls came in ready and locked in. They responded right away.

We were in control the whole day.” Story continues below video Neshannock (15-1) moves on to battle third-seeded Hopewell at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday at North Allegheny. The Lady Lancers locked up a PIAA playoff berth as well. It’s the first state playoff appearance for Neshannock since at least 2014 or 2015, according to Bolinger.

“For me, I’ve had a monkey on my back in the quarterfinals for a while,” Bolinger said of attempting to qualify for the PIAA playoffs. “I have been here since 2019 and I haven’t made it past the (WPIAL) quarterfinals; it’s long overdue for the program; it will be great to play in states.” Jaidon Nogay notched 12 kills for the Lady Lancers and Payton Newman was next with 10.

Nora Ball recorded nine digs and Ainsley Allison added six blocks. Neshannock was coming off a five-game win over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart on Wednesday. The Lady Lancers won the first two games and had to regroup in the fifth game to advance.

“OLSH took us by surprise going to five games,” Bolinger said. “OLSH was a more all-around team. They were able to utilize different players.

We had to be on our toes more. “Our assignments were to shut down that middle on Saturday. We got ourselves in the right mindset for Saturday.

Being an odd day and an odd time, whatever the girls did it was perfect. They were ready to go.” ELLWOOD OUSTED The Lady Wolverines dropped a 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 decision to Quaker Valley in the quarterfinals on the Lady Quakers’ home floor.
