High hopes for Jamaica Pork, Rum, and Soca Festival

I’m happy to announce that part proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Glenlyon Foundation,” McDonald said at the media launch of the festival on Tuesday at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston. The event kicks off on October 11 with a free admission day. Attendees can simply order and pick up pork meals from Footprints Café.

The main event on October 12, which will be held at the Liguanea Club, from 6:00 pm to midnight, will feature a premium experience with several DJs, live cooking sessions, as well as rum tasting and sampling. The main event will offer patrons a variety of pork dishes alongside exotic meats. Meanwhile Talisa Taylor, project manager and publicist for the festival, noted that patrons will also have an opportunity to learn how to make new pork dishes.

“Join our renowned chefs as they take you on a culinary journey. Their live cooking sessions [will] not just be about watching, but probably learning. Our chefs will expertly pair a range of pork dishes in exquisite Jamaican rums, showcasing the versatility of our cuisine and the complex, rich flavours of our world-renowned rum,” she said at Tuesday’s launch.

McDonald reiterated the importance of supporting the fund-raising two-day festival. “The charity is dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in Jamaica. By attending this festival guests will not only be indulging in an unforgettable experience but also contribute to a worthy cause that uplifts our fellow Jamaicans,” he said.

The launch, which saw soca music being spun by DJ Rich Rocc, also featured samples of what will come at the festival, among them pork bits with Cocomania Coconut Rum Sauce, pork ribs with Appleton rum sauce, pork belly with Appleton Signature sauce, sticky pork belly with RumBar rum sauce, and more..
