High pollen counts are expected in the South East for until Saturday.

It is anticipated the region will experience 'very high' pollen levels on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, with 'high' counts on Wednesday, April 9, and Thursday, April 10. Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg said: "With the warm sunny weather continuing this week, these are ideal conditions for trees to distribute their pollen. "We are definitely in peak tree pollen season in the South East now, with birch pollen a main culprit.

Birch is the most common tree pollen allergen." Mr Wiseberg explained the pollen count is measured by the number of pollen grains per cubic metre of air. He said: "The pollen count forecast can help you to judge if your hay fever symptoms will be particularly severe on any given day.

"As a general guide, the pollen count tends to be lower on rainy days and higher when it’s hot and sunny." He also advised hay fever sufferers to create their own "Hay Fever First Aid Kit" by trying multiples remedies at once, which he said may "complement" each other. However, he also warned: "Never take two anti-histamines together, never take two steroid nasal sprays together, and consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are already taking any other medication, you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if the sufferer is a child.
