Finding a new place to eat out can be an exciting adventure, especially if you fall in love with the menu. Whether you like to start your day off right with a big breakfast or you prefer to indulge in three courses of an evening, Lancashire has plenty of hidden gem food spots to explore. From restaurants to cafes, we’ve rounded up some of Lancashire’s hidden gems we shared in 2024.
The UK's favourite takeaways Hidden gem food spots in Lancashire The Trawden Arms The Trawden Arms in Trawden is the village’s only drinking hole and provides a hub for everyone to catch up. One of our reporters visited the village and its only pub and explained that while Trawden might appear a little dull on the surface with only one pub/restaurant, it is actually its key asset, funnelling all the residents into just one place to gossip and catch up. They visited on their way to the hidden gem that is Trawden Forest.
The Cabin Do you enjoy walks out in the fresh air? Well, The Cabin makes a great stop if you’re in the Pendle Hill area. The café describes itself as “cosy” and walkers and other visitors can grab a bite to eat or hydrate themselves with a drink any day of the week. It’s located at Barley Picnic Site in Burnley and you can read more about it in our story here.
Clitheroe As a whole, Clitheroe was named one of the “UK's great hidden foodie destinations” in a list by The Guardian in February. Among its recommendations, the newspaper suggested visiting on certain days so you can indulge in market food. It said: “The culinary heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley, visit Clitheroe on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday to dip into one of the region’s best food markets, held since the 12th century.

Traditional pubs are the perfect place to watch the world go by and since these villages are two of the prettiest around, you’re sure to have a good time.
Find more things to do and places to visit in both villages in our story here. Strawberry Duck Back in August, we featured Entwistle’s Strawberry Duck in a Pub of the Week write up. The pub is nestled within the Lancashire Moors and it’s possibly one of the area's best-kept secrets.

When asked why customers visit the pub, its general manager Jason Bower said they like the “friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the great food and ales we sell”. The food customers can expect includes “traditional pub grub, from burgers to our most popular dishes like the hanging kebab, duck breast and lamb shoulder, not forgetting our famous Sunday dinners”, explained Bower.
